Dream — Psychology · Neurology

Imagination is belief. Faith defeats all. Dream scryers bend reality through pure intention — telepathy, telekinesis and forgotten shadows.

The science of interiority, consciousness, archetype, and egregore. Includes depth psychology, symbolic magic, ritual technology, and any system that treats thoughtforms as citizens. In CCRU terms: the egregore layer, self-fulfilling entities, narrative possession, techno-tarot.

Every player belongs to one. They cross-cut the sciences: a Flesh player and a Glitch player can both be Cargo Cult. A Dream player and an Atom player can both be Pattern. The organizations are not mechanical. They are community identities, Convergence voting blocs, and rival institutional responses to the same existential situation.

Yog-Sothoth exists in all minds once the threshold is crossed. Nightmare Shield is a test invocation.

Cost Tier

At cost 5, Nightmare Shield is a mid-game power spike. The Numogram has already bent toward one side of its axis.

Goetic Binding: Eligos

The digit-sum of cost 5 is 5, binding Eligos — one of the 9 Dream Goetia. Office: Hidden things, wars, and the loyalty of lords. This binding was codified in the Ars Goetia (1577) centuries before the compiler existed.

Numogram Zone 5: Flux / Transforming

Evolution, change, metamorphosis. The zone of becoming. Where identities dissolve and reform. The midpoint of the Numogram — neither beginning nor end, pure transition.

Playing Nightmare Shield at cost 5 routes mana tracker motion through Zone 5. If the Dream-coloured tracker reaches Resonance at Zone 5, the player gains 5 Souls at Round End.

Xenogod: Yog-Sothoth

The Psychic Dissolution. All individual consciousnesses merge into singular noosphere — dream-logic replaces physical causality, consensus reality dissolves.

The Mind vs Matter Axis

Emanation vs incarnation. Is reality downstream of consciousness (Mind) or upstream of it (Matter)? The oldest philosophical dispute. Every idealism vs materialism debate is a move along this axis.

Nightmare Shield occupies the Dream side of this axis. Decks containing Nightmare Shield cannot contain Atom cards. Adjacent factions available for splashing: Glitch, Abyss.

Nightmare Shield carries class Equipment, race Quetzan, zodiac Taurus. In the True Protocol, tribal bindings matter more than colour splashes — a Dream deck running multiple Equipment units develops archetype coherence faster than a deck chasing pure colour identity.
