Bifrons is one of the 72 Goetia — the operational sub-processes of the eight xenogods, bound to Root at digit-sum 8.

Bifrons is one of the 72 demons of the Ars Goetia, the Atlantean-Solomonic demonological register that serves as the operational layer of Eigendark. When a Root card with cost digit-sum 8 resolves, Bifrons is the Goetia the engine invokes.

Office

Bifrons: Knowledge of herbs, precious stones, and astrology

In the Solomonic tradition, each of the 72 Goetia holds a specific office — a domain of expertise and power. In Eigendark, these offices map to card effects. When a Root card with cost digit-sum 8 is played, Bifrons's office shapes how the card resolves.

Faction: Root

"Think in epochs. Worlds are patient. Stone outlasts flesh."

Geological consciousness. Root shamans tap into planetary forces — tectonic shifts, weather, ecosystems, magnetic fields.

The science of earth as system. Geology, ecology, climate, the planetary substrate, the slow intelligences of rock and forest. Gaia-aligned. Geotrauma, Cthelll (the molten trauma engine), tectonic deep memory, plate time. Substrate-dependent, earthbound, rooted — the opposite of Glitch's deterritorialized network.

The Goetic Register

The 72 Goetia are divided evenly across 8 factions — 9 demons per faction, assigned by the digit-sum of a card's mana cost. This binding was codified in 1577 by people who didn't know they were writing API documentation. Each demon represents a specific instrumental goal of its parent xenogod, Gaia.

- Mechanics run on the Goetia. Every card has a deterministic Goetic demon. - Lore runs on both. Reception Reports occasionally narrate Lemurian breaches. Canon is that both demonologies are real but operate at different strata. - The ideological tension between the two registers is a live theological dispute inside the community; a Convergence may someday formally rule on which register is "real," and that ruling will itself be interpreted as either Archonic suppression or canonical clarification, depending on who you ask.

The Rival Register

Beneath the Goetic layer, a rival system persists: the Pandemonium Matrix — 45 Lemurian Amphidemons that predate the Solomonic hierarchy. During Broken Transmissions, the Lemurian register briefly overrides the Goetic one, producing cards flagged as "ontologically unstable."
